The Chalk Man is a pub of the olde trade. An establishment for friends, lords and ladies to tell stories, play cards and relax with a brew. The Chalk Man is open six nights every year during Pennsic.
The Chalk Man is managed by the Burly Ten Pint Men, proudly within the Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands. Which is within the Kingdom of Æthelmearc in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a non-profit organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the customs, combat, and courtesy of the middle ages (pre-17th-century Europe). Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which may feature tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, dancing, feasts, and more.
